This week we are learning about different types of buildings and what they are made of. First, talk to your family about the materials your house is made out of: brick, cinder block, stucco? Do you have a tile, shingle, or metal roof? Do you have any solar panels? Next, find out how OLD your house is - when was it built? Post the information about your house below so we can use it on writing!

This week we learned about the differences between a city and the country. The cities we read about all had tall buildings, lots of people, and houses that were close together. The country did not have any big buildings, very few shops, and houses that were spread out. So . . . . . how do we classify Lakeland and Mulberry? Take a survey: ask the people who live in your house if they think they live in a city or in the country. Record their answers and your own below.
This week we looked at pictures of Florida taken by satellites to determine if there was more city or country in our state. We were also able to search for specific places on the map. Go to Google Maps and type in your address. Use the "Street View" option to view your house. Does it look the same right now as it looks in the picture? What has changed? What is still the same? Share your answers in the comments below!
